MH-MA Girls Pick Up Non League Win, Troy Boys Powered by Huss' Big Night
By Jonny Kane

On a night where both teams struggled to find the bottom of the basket, the Maur Hill-Mount Academy Lady Ravens used a strong first quarter to knock off the Troy Lady Trojans 34-25 Friday night in Atchison.

The MH-MA girls dominated all facets of the game early with junior Hana Ronnebaum leading the way scoring seven first quarter points. The Lady Ravens used a 16-2 run in the first to jump out to a 14 point lead heading into the second.

Neither team was able to generate offense in the second quarter, as the two teams combined for eight total points with MH-MA taking a 22-8 lead into the break.

Troy did manage to trim the deficit to 10 after the third quarter off five points by senior Holly Whetstine, but the Lady Ravens kept the Lady Trojans at arm’s length the rest of the way.

Up next for MH-MA (8-1, 7-1) is Heritage Christian at the Immaculata Invitational Tuesday. Troy (4-4, 3-2) takes on Wetmore to open up the TVL Tournament Saturday (1/16).
