Championship = Nemaha Cental 44, Falls City 41

Meeting for the third time in the past four boys tournament Championship games in Seneca, Nemaha Central came away with a hard fought win in a game that was single digits throughout and not decided until the final seconds.  The biggest Thunder lead of the game was 42-34 with just over three minutes remaining, before Brandt Chapple hit a pair of treys and brought the Tigers back.  Nemaha even turned the ball over leading by two in the final 30 seconds, but Trent Pentacost missed a runner in the lane to tie and Dylan Enneking made a pair of free throws with 5.8 ticks left to secure the win.

Falls City, the defending Thunder Classic champs, went on an 8-0 run to close the first quarter and take a 13-10 advantage.  Yet, they were held to just five points in the second quarter as Nemaha regained a 21-18 lead.  Both teams scored 12 points in the third quarter and 11 in the fourth as the Thunder never surrendered the lead.  Brandt Chapple scored 11 in the final quarter for Falls City and 15 of his 21 came in the second half while Pentacost had his best tourney game with 13 points.  Chapple had 70 total points in the three tourney games and Kyle Leafty added 42, but was held to five in the title bout.

Luke Holthaus was a big factor defensively and on the glass for Nemaha Central and led the team in scoring with 19 points.  He had 57 for the tourney week while Tristan Allen scored in double figures in all three games as well, including 10 on Saturday.  Nemaha improved to 9-3 by winning their home tournament for the 17th time in 36 years and the fifth time in the last six seasons.
