GIRLS = Hiawatha 39, Riverside 15

Following their home Tournament Championship for the first time in 36 years, the Hiawatha girls did not have a letdown and never trailed in winning their sixth consecutive game on Tuesday.  The Lady Red Hawks scored 34 straight points in an 18 minute stretch and led 25-4 at halftime before a 39-6 score forced a running clock the entire fourth period.

Sydney Campbell came off the bench and hit a trio of three-pointers to earn "Player to Bank On" honors from the Citizens State Bank and Trust Company in Hiawatha.  Emily Gartner also had 10 as the Red Hawks forced 20 turnovers before playing all youngsters and being outscored 9-0 in the final 8 minutes.  Hiawatha improved to 10-4 overall and 6-3 in the Big 7.

Riverside fell to 2-10 overall and played without top senior, Sasha Perry.  Rayme Butts had 8 points, but picked up her fourth foul in the second quarter and was limited in playing time.

BOYS = Riverside 56, Hiawatha 52

Both teams have lost their fair share of close games this season and were coming off heartbreaking single-digit defeats.  Both teams shot the ball well in a tightly contested contest, but Riverside won the battle of the boards and had several second chance points that proved to be the difference.  The Cyclones led 18-15 after one quarter and 28-27 at halftime, before Hiawatha took a brief lead in the third quarter.  Riverside was up 42-35 entering the fourth and put the game away by making 10 of 13 free throws.

Andrew Miller scored the first seven points of the game for the Cyclones and then hit a pair of big treys in the third quarter to push the margin to seven points.  Miller was the Citizens State Bank and Trust Company "Player to Bank On," while Grant Shue had 14 points and 19 rebounds and Jadon LaRue added 12 points and 10 boards.  Riverside improved to 8-5 overall and 6-4 in League play while playing without suspended senior, Levi Crespo.

Hiawatha made seven trifectas in the game, including five by Troy May who scored 17 points.  Ethan Pierce pumped in 18 before the Hawks fell to 4-9 overall and 3-6 in the Big 7.
