Four Teams Claim Titles at MUDECAS Track Meet

(KLZA)-- Johnson County Central hosted the MUDECAS Track & Field Meet Saturday at Tecumseh. 

Falls City Sacred Heart won the Boys “B” Division title with 167 points, 10 better than Sterling.  Lewiston was third with 67, Johnson-Brock 5th with 30 in the seven team field.

In the Boys “A” Division Diller-Odell won the title with 107.5 points.  Pawnee City was second with 98, Freeman scored 84 for third, HTRS was fourth with 51 followed by Johnson County Central with 50 then Lourdes Central Catholic, Southern and Palmyra in 6th, 7th and 8th. 

Johnson Count Central won the Girls “A” Division title with 116 points, Freeman was second with 110, HTRS – third with 85, Pawnee City fourth with 71. Dilller-Odell was fifth, followed by Lourdes Central Catholic, Palmyra and Southern.

Sterling won the Girls “B” Division title with 128 points, Meridian was second with 127, Falls City Sacred Heart placed third with 98 points, Johnson-Brock was fifth with 50 and Lewiston was seventh with 20. 

Sacred Heart senior Henry Arnold won 4 gold medals to lead the Irish to the “B” Division championship.  Arnold won the triple jump by nearly 3.5 feet; He also won gold in the 100, 200 and 400 meters. 

The Irish picked up 24 points in the 100 meters with Arnold, Keith Salimo and Christian Harring taking the top 3 spots. Another 22 points came in the 200 with Arnold, little brother Sean Arnold and Harring going 1-2-4 in the finals.

Bryant Jorn won the shot for the Irish. The Irish also won the 4 x 300 relay.

Other event winners in the Boys “B” Division were: 

For Sterling -  Dylan Benson in the 800; Cameron VanGoningen in the long jump;  Seth Harms in the 1600 and 3200; Micah Erickson – discus; and the   4 x 100 relay team; 

Johnson-Brock – Tanner Ebeler in the long jump; 

Lewiston – Jacob Meybrunn in the 110 and 300 meter hurdles;


“B” Division Girls event winners included:

Sterling: Taylor Cockerill – 400; 800 and 1600 meters;

Nicole Harms – 100 and 300 meter hurdles; 

4 x 400 meter relay;  


Sacred Heart: Maggie Goltz – triple jump;  Haylee Heits – shot put;  

4 x 100 meter relay;  


Lewiston: Megan Wehrbein – long jump; 


Johnson-Brock – Kacie Hahn – 100 meters and 200 meters;


Boys “A” Division Event winners included:


Diller-Odell – Reese Hennerberg – 110 meter and 300 meter hurdles; 

4 x 800 meter relay;

Cory Engelman – pole vault; Christian McCown – long jump and triple jump; 


Lourdes central Catholic – Nick Whiteen – 100 and 200 meters;  


Freeman – Seth Weber – 400 meters;  4 x 100 meter relay;  


HTRS- Chase Hain – discus;


Southern – Jalen Fields – 800 meters; Zack Taylor – shot put;


Johnson County Central -  Sam Saldivar – 1600 and 3200 meters; 


Pawnee City – 4 x 400 meter relay;  Cory Kettelhake – high jump;    


“A” Division Girls event winners included:

Johnson County Central: Maddie Moran – 100 & 200 meters;  

Brittany Neukirch – 400 meters;

4 x 100 meter relay; 

Hailey Clark – high jump;  

Erin Hunzeker -  triple jump; 


Lourdes Central Catholic: Laura Box – 300 meter hurdles; 

4 x 400 meter relay; 


HTRS – Allie Binder – 800 and 1600 meters; 

Bailey Kuhlman – pole vault;  

Logan Standerford – shot put and discus; 


Freeman: Ashley Oltman – 3200 meters;

4 x 800 relay;


Pawnee City: Mariah Willey – 100 meters; 100 meter hurdles; long jump;
