Nemaha Central Leads Area Performances in 3A Regional Track (Full Results)

Eleven area schools in Class 3A are sending at least a few competitors each to Wichita and the State track meet next week after several Top four finishes for area athletes at the 3A Royal Valley Regional on Friday. 

Leading the charge for area qualifiers in Hoyt on Friday at the 3A Regional was Nemaha Central as the Thunder made their presence known at Regionals in a big fashion. The lady Thunder claimed the Regional title as a team by 35 points over Silver Lake, while the Thunder boys earned second as a team behind Silver Lake at Regionals. Six first place finishes led the lady Thunder and Kaley Dalinghaus took home a trio of Regional titles herself posting tosses of 120'3 and 40'07 to take gold in the discus and shot put, while a toss of 135'9 won her the javelin crown. Allison Rottinghaus qualified for State by winning Regional titles in the long jump (16'02) and triple jump (36'07.50), while also taking second in the 200 meter dash. First place in the girl’s high jump (5'00) went to Laura Macke of Nemaha Central, who also qualified for State in the javelin after a seocnd place finish and the pole vault with a fourth place finish. Other girls State qualifiers for Nemaha Central include - Rachael Baumgartner (second in pole vault and fourth place in 100 and 300 meter hurdles and shot put); Jenna Macke (second in 300 meter hurdles); Jacy Dalinghaus (fourth place in discus) and the ladies 4x100 meter relay team also took second place. 

Nemaha Central boys were led by Jacob Koelzer once again who once again top the competition in the long jump (21'3) and 100 and 200 meter dashes behind times of 11.02 and 22.89 earning Regional titles in all three events. Caleb Bradley also snagged a Regional crown for the Thunder with a vault of 13'6 to win the pole vault. A second place performance by Caleb Henry in the pole vault and the boy’s 4x100 meter relay team are sending them to State, while Winston Meyer took third in the shot put and Zach Buessing finished fourth in both the 110 and 300 meter hurdles to qualify for State. 

Sabetha Bluejay boys and girls each enjoyed Top five team finishes at Regionals taking third and fifth, respectively. Keegan Cox led the Bluejays at Regionals posting a time of 10:23.63 to win the 3200 meter run, while also taking third in the 1600 meter run. Four Bluejays snagged silver medal performances to qualify for State as Courtney Plattner took second in the girl’s long jump, Emily Meyer in the girl’s javelin, Eric Renyer in boys shot put and Abby Hinton in the girls 100 meter dash. Renyer also qualified for State in the discus with a third place finish, while Braeden Cox took third in the high jump and the lady Bluejay 4x800 meter relay team earned a bronze medal. Both Christian Meyer and Mariah Huneke will also be going to State for Sabetha after placing fourth in the boy’s pole vault and girl’s javelin. 

Times of 5:36.76 and 12:30.17 lead Hiawatha Red Hawk, Elizabeth Kettler to a pair of Regional titles as she won the 1600 and 3200 meter runs. Cariann Kunkel is headed to State for Hiawatha after a second place finish in the girl’s high jump, while Gavin Lierz took second in the boy’s 300 meter hurdles and the lady Red Hawks 4x800 meter relay team also earned a silver medal. After placing third in the discus and 800 meter run, respectively for Emily Gartner and Kailey Davis they are both headed too State for Hiawatha. 

Riverside Cyclones had two Regional individual champs on the day as Cole Hinton won the boys 1600 meter run (4:42.99) and Tre"Nez Wilkinson won the boys 400 meter dash (51.27). Hinton also qualified for State in the 3200 meter run with a third place finish, while Antonio Jones took third in the boy’s 200 meter dash and Tristan Hinton fourth in the boys 3200 meter run for Riverside. 

All of the State qualifiers for the ACCHS Tigers came from the girl’s side of competition led by a trio of second place finishes. Beba Scholz took second in the 1600 meter run, Madison Bissell snagged second place in the 800 meter run and the girls 4x400 meter relay earned a silver medal. Third place was earned by Jaycee Ernzen in the 400 meter dash and the girls 4x800 meter relay placed fourth to go to State. 

The host Royal Valley Panthers had two athletes win Regional titles on the day as Lucas Broxterman won the boys high jump (6'5) and Doren Rupnicki took first in the boy’s discus (144'6). Broxterman also qualified for State in the long jump by placing fourth, while Jarrett Roy took fourth in the boy’s javelin and Kathryn Hanshaw placed third in the girls 3200 meter run. 

Maur Hill-Mount Academy was led by the lady Ravens 4x800 meter relay team at Regionals as they took the gold with a time of 9:56.73. Jack Siebert with second place finishes in the boys 1600 and 3200 meter runs is headed to State for Maur Hill, while Grace Siebert place third in the girls 1600 meter run and Karim Majed finished fourth in the boys 800 meter run. The lady Ravens 4x400 meter relay team took third place and the boy’s 4x800 meter relay team finished fourth qualifying them for State. 

A first place by the boy’s 4x100 meter relay team with a time of 44.41 qualified Oskaloosa Bears for State, while Dillion Grother won the boys 300 meter hurdles Regional crown and also finished third in the triple jump and 110 meter hurdles. Silver medals were picked up by Jaden Courter in the girls shot put, Alexi Adams in the girls 400 meter dash and Tommy Molder in the boys 400 meter dash for the Bears. 

Marysville Bulldogs were led by Gracie Stohs who won the girls pole vault (11'3) and Claire Cudney who placed first in the girl’s 100 meter hurdles (15.15). Cudney also placed fourth in the 100 meter dash to qualify for State, while Matthew Lindhorst took second in the boys pole vault, Chase Green earned the silver in the boys javelin and Avery Williams grabbed second place in both the girls 100 and 300 meter hurdles and third in the long jump. The lady Bulldog 4x100 meter relay team also is going to State after a third place finish. 

Two third place finishes and four fourth place showings led to State qualifiers for the Pleasant Ridge Rams. The Ram boys 4x800 meter relay team finished third as did Gabe Younger in the boys 400 meter dash, while fourth place finishes were had by Gylnn Smith in the boys triple jump, Jagar Haack in the boys shot put, Luke Oatney in the boys 1600 meter run and Grace McKinney in the girls 200 meter dash. 

Perry Lecompton is also sending competitors to State in track after Lexia Jamison won the girls 800 meter run (2:29.52) and Torin VanNest took second in the boys 110 meter hurdles. While, Abbi Folks placed fourth in the girl’s triple jump and Cole Kellum snagged fourth in the boy’s 400 meter dash, along with the Kaw boys 4x100 meter relay team placing fourth.
