Nineteen Area Athletes Named 2015-16 KBCA All-Academic All-State

The Kansas Basketball Coaches Association has given out their annual All-Academic All-State honors and 19 area basketball players earned those honors this year as they succeed in the classroom along with playing basketball. 

To earn All-Academic All-State honors from the KBCA the players have to be sumbited to the KBCA by their coaches. The players must be in the upper 1/4 of their class after seven semesters, have a 25 or higher on the ACT and be a current member of the school's basketball team. 

Of the 19 area athletes earning the honors from the KBCA 12 are from the Big Seven League with three schools have three honorees. Holton Wildcats, Mackenzie Moore, Hayley Thompson and Shari Riley all were named All-Academic All-State, while Sabetha Bluejays, Caleb Stramm, Mariah Huneke and Jena Winkler earned the honor, also. Jeff West Tigers, Chord Livingston, Nathaniel Schmidt and Jacob Korb all picked up the All-Academic honors. Nemaha Central Thunder, Jenna Macke and Rachael Baumgartner both were named All-Academic All-State as was Royal Valley Panther, Derek Linn. 

The Twin Valley League is represented by four athletes on the All-Academic All-State list as Paige Doebele and Shelby Bruna of Hanover, along with Aubree Robinson of Doniphan West and Mandi Allerheiligen of Washingotn County earned the honors. 

From the Northeast Kansas League three athletes earned All-Academic All-State honors as Jake Brickell of Jefferson County North, along with Jenna Kramer and Macee Jepson of Valley Falls each picked up the honors.
