A pair of League double headers and a non-league contest continued the legion baseball season on Tuesday night in the Northeast Kansas League. 

In League play Doniphan County took down Atchison in a pair of run-rule wins, 10-0 in four innings and 14-6 in five innings to clinch the East Division title, while Silver Lake swept Leavenworth winning 13-8 and 15-2 in four innings. 

It was non-league action for Sabetha on Tuesday as they hosted Falls City and picked up the 11-3 win in five innings. 

The action continues on Thursday for NEKL teams on the ball field as Sabetha travels to Donpihan County for a League double header and Atchison hosts Oskaloosa in League action. 

Doniphan County Sweeps Atchison Claiming East Division Title 

It was a strong night of baseball by Doniphan County as they secured the East Division title in the NEKL with a sweep of the team chasing them in the standings in Atchison, as Doniphan didn't need extra innings this time to take care of Atchison. Doniphan County finished the night with a pair of run-rule wins, claiming victories 10-0 in four innings and 14-6 in five innings. 

Atchison got their leadoff man on via a walk in the top of the first but the next 12 guys were retired in order by Brody Winder and partnered with the offense Doniphan coasted to the 10-0 four inning game one win. Doniphan County struck first in game one as Reid Greaser led the bottom of the first off with a triple and scored on the next at bat as Chris Winkel laced a RBI single into play to make it 1-0. The game blew open in Doniphan Counties favor in the third as they used five hits, an error and two walks to score seven runs with a three RBI double by Wil Smith leading the charge in the frame. To finish the game in the fourth Greaser blasted a two-run homer for Doniphan County. 

Greaser led the Doniphan offense going 3-3 with a two-run homer, triple, two RBI's and a run scored earning him McDonald's "Player of the Game" on KNZA. While, Winkel was 2-2 with an RBI and run scored and Garrett Dunlap went 1-1 with two runs scored, an RBI and was hit by a pitch. Winder continued to be strong on the mound tossing a four inning no-hitter giving up just one walk and recording three strikeouts. Atchison in the loss had Noah Baniewicz as their lone baserunner via the walk, while Baniewicz took the loss on the mound going two and one-third innings. 

Game two, Doniphan County pounced on the early lead with a two-run first innings and added five runs in the second to lead 7-0. Atchison didn't go away as they capitalized on four walks, two errors and two hit batters in the third to scored five runs and then a solo homer by Baniewicz in the fourth made it a 7-6 game Doniphan County just holding on to the lead. Doniphan responded in the bottom of the fourth with a four-run frame and then finished the game in the fifth with three more runs to win 14-6 in five. 

The Doniphan County offense pounded out 16-hits with a 3-3 game by Winkel and Greaser leading the charge. Winkel finished 3-3 with four RBI's, two doubles and a walk, while Greaser was 3-3 with a walk and two RBI's. Wil Smith added a 3-4 game with a double and three RBI's, while Luke Smith was 1-1 and on base three times with a walk and hit by pitch and scored three runs. Wyatt Huss pitched the first three and one-third innings and gave up six runs but picked up the win, while Nathan Gaarder tossed the final inning and two-thirds. Atchison in the loss had a 2-2 game from Marcus Denton, while Baniewicz had a homer. 

With the wins Doniphan County moved to 24-2 on the season and 14-2 in League, clinching the NEKL East Division title, while Atchison with the loss fell to 10-8 and 9-7 in the League. Season continues on Thursday for both teams as Doniphan County hosts Sabetha (6:00pm game will be broadcasted on 103.9 KNZA), while Atchison is set to welcome Oskaloosa to town. 

Silver Lake Sweeps Leavenworth in League Twinbill

Silver Lake used 28 runs on the night to make it four wins in a row as they topped Leavenworth in a League double header winning 13-8 and 15-2 in four innings. 

It was a see-saw affair in game one with the lead changing hands multiple times as Leavenworth took the initial lead of the contest going up 3-0 in the first and leading 4-0 before Silver Lake got on the board. Silver Lake snagged the lead in the second behind a five-run frame and led 6-4 going into the fourth but Leavenworth tied the game with two-runs. A run in the fifth pushed Silver Lake back in forth only to see Leavenworth come up with two-runs in the top of the sixth to lead 8-7. The deciding factor ultimately was the second five-run inning of the game for Silver Lake coming in the bottom of the sixth to ultimately give them the 13-8 win. 

In three innings of relief Jake Lindstrom earned the win giving up two runs on three walks, while Kyle Frick started the game and pitched four innings. Garrett Huske led the Silver Lake offense going 3-4 with a home run and three RBI's, while Alex Whitehead finished 2-3 with three RBI's. Leavenworth in the loss had Henry Blanke who went 2-3 with three RBI's, while Preston Pfanenstiel took the loss on the mound tossing all six innings. 

Game two saw Silver Lake out-hit Leavenworth 12-3 and cruise to a 15-2 four inning victory. Both teams plated a run in the first but Silver Lake went on to score five in the second and nine runs in the third to snag the win as Leavenworth scored their lone other run in the top of the fourth. Huske earned the win on the mound going three innings giving up one run on two hits and no walks, while going 3-3 at the plate with three RBI's. Whitehead had another strong offensive game going 2-2 with two RBI's and a walk, while Reid Walker was 1-1 with two walks and three RBI's. Leavenworth in the loss had Reid Herken go 1-2 and take the loss on the mound, while Jacob Emmerson went 1-2 with an RBI. 

The wins move Silver Lake to .500 on the season at 13-13 and to 8-8 in League action, while Leavenworth fell to 6-24 and 2-18 in League play. Both teams continue their season on Friday as Silver Lake is set to host Corning in a League double header and Leavenworth will host McLouth in non-league action. 

Sabetha Takes Down Falls City for Twentieth Win of Season

Win number 20 came for Sabetha on Tuesday night as they took down non-league foe, Falls City winning 11-3 in five innings. 

Sabetha started strong having the first five batters reach safely via three walks and two hits and got four runs out of take the early lead. Falls City responded in the fourth to cut the lead in half at 4-2 with a two-run inning but Sabetha answered by scoring five runs in the bottom of the fourth. Brandon Brownlee with a two-run double and Joe Gruber with a two-run single highlighted the five run fourth inning for Sabetha. Two more runs in the fifth finished the game for Sabetha winning 11-3. 

Trevor Kramer picked up the win on the mound tossing a four-hit five inning complete game, while Preston Bruning led the Sabetha offense with three hits and three RBI's. Joe Gruber added three RBI's on the night. 

The win pushes Sabetha to 20-13 on the season and they continue their season on Thursday on the road in a League double header against Doniphan County.
