Five Area Teams in Latest KVA Volleyball Rankings

Just over a week into the full swing of the high school volleyball season and the Kansas Volleyball Association has released its first set of rankings since the preseason rankings which featured six area teams. The latest rankings feature five area teams in the polls. 

Three of the five area teams in the KVA rankings this week are in the Class 1A-Division I polls as Centralia and Hanover remain in the Top 10 while Immaculata joins them this week. The Centralia Panthers have started the season strong getting off to a 9-0 start, which includes a 5-0 performance to open the season and win the Wabaunsee Invite. The Panthers remain ranked second this week, while fellow Twin Valley League team the Hanover Wildcats move up one spot to third in the polls after a 3-1 start to the year. The Wildcats lone loss on the year is to Centralia. The Immaculata Raiders out of the Northeast Kansas League jumps into the rankings this week at number seven after a 4-1 start with their lone loss coming to a 2A ranked Jefferson County North team. 

In Class 1A-Division II the polls continue to feature the Axtell Eagles as they Eagles have started the season 7-2, but fell one stop in the polls to sixth. The Eagles started the year with a fourth place showing at the Wabaunsee Invite and are 4-0 in TVL play so far this year. Their only losses came to a ranked 2A Wabaunsee and 3A Rock Creek.

The JCN Chargers are the other area team in the polls remaining in the 2A polls and moving up one spot to fourth this week after a 4-0 start to the season, winning all four of their league contests. 

Volleyball rolls along for all five area ranked teams and everyone else this week with regular season action looming and many tournament coming up on Saturday.
