Atchison Girls Tennis Competes at Hayden Invite

The tennis season continued for the Atchison ladies against some tough competition on Tuesday at the Hayden Invitational in Topeka. 

Leading the way for the Atchison gals was the play of Stormy Knott has she continues her strong individual season in singles play. Knott posted a 2-1 day to earn third place in the singles #1 competition. The two wins didn't come easy for Stormy on the day as she battled in the contest for the wins and fought the heat and not feeling well to pick up the pair of wins an 8-5 victory over Hayden and 9-7 (7-5) win over Perry Lecompton. Her loss on the day came in a match with Marysville falling 4-8. 

It was a struggle for the rest of the Atchison girls on the day as they picked up learning experiences and match experience overall. Olivia Wabski in singles #2 lost her lone match of the day 0-8 against Hayden. While in doubles action the teams of Kathy Tull and Brienna Dove, along with Reece Dulac and Hailey Lewis each finished 0-3 on the day. Tull and Dove suffered 0-8 losses to Marysville and Hayden, while losing 2-8 to Bishop Miege. The team of Dulac and Lewis lost 1-8 to Marysville and Hayden, while taking a 2-8 to Wamego. 

Atchison girl’s tennis will hit the court again coming on Saturday competing against several other area teams at the Hiawatha Invitational.
