Three weeks into the high school football and the action is heating up all around the State and Northeast Kansas. Seven area teams remain unbeaten after three weeks, while nine area teams are still looking for their first win of the season. This week across the State rankings four area teams once again are in the rankings with several others getting attention in several polls.

Two area teams continue to remain the consensus number team in their classification that being the Troy Trojans and Hanover Wildcats. Troy after a tough 33-16 road victory over Centralia last Friday improved to 3-0 and remains ranked #1 this week in Class 2-1A by Kansasprepfootball.com, Kpreps, VarsityKansas, Topeka-Capital Journal and CatchitKansas. While the Washington County Tigers continue to join them in the rankings checking in anywhere from #3 to #5 in pools. The Tigers took down LaCrosse 36-14 last week to move to 3-0 and are ranked #3 by the Topeka-Capital Journal, #4 by CatchitKansas and #5 by Kpreps, VarsityKansas and Kansasprepfootball.com. Two other 3-0 area teams in the Jackson Heights Cobras and Jefferson County North Chargers are getting attention in several 2-1A polls.

The Hanover Wildcats are 2-0 on the year after beating Southern Coffey County 50-0 ending the game the half. Wildcats had an open week two but have yet to allow a point this season and remain #1 in all the polls this week in 8-Man Division II. One other area 8-Man team is getting attention in the polls this week that is the 3-0 Clifton-Clyde Eagles who are getting noticed in the 8-Man Division I polls.

The other area team in the rankings is again the Atchison Redmen this week ranking #4 in the Kansasprepfootball.com and VarsityKansas polls and #6 in the CatchitKansas Top 10 in Class 4A-Division II. Atchison is off to a 3-0 start after cruising past KC Schlagle last week 40-12.

While no area teams have broken into the rankings in Class 3A yet this season and pair of Big Seven League teams in Nemaha Central and Sabetha are knocking on the door. Both teams have started the season off 3-0 with some big wins.
