Marysville Wrestlers Take Second at Beloit Invitational

All season long the Marysville Bulldog wrestlers have put together strong performances leading to team tournament titles and on Saturday they vied for another coming up just 4.5 points shy a the Beloit Invitational as Blue Valley Southwest edged them in a 21 team tournament. 

Nine Bulldog grapplers finished the competition with a top six finish in Beloit led by another individual first place by Jacob Mintzmyer and Nick Ackerman. Mintzmyer used a 3-0 day on the mats to win at 170lbs snatching up a pair of major decision wins in 12-2 and 11-2 scores, while also recording a pinfall win in 1:00. For Ackerman it was a 3-0 day also with two pinfall wins in :47 and 5:11, while also recording a 4-1 decision victory to take first at 195lbs. Both Gabe Capp (138lbs) and Ethan Crownover (126lbs) each earned second place finishes behind 2-1 and 3-1 records on the mats. Capp had a pair of 14-5 major decision wins, while Crownover won by a 4-3 decision, pinfall 5:18 and injury default. 

Third place finishes were picked up by Jacob Stryker (182lbs) and Storm Slupianek (152lbs), while Jakob Snellings (106lbs) earned a fourth place finish. Both Styker and Slupianek each recorded a 4-1 day on the mats, while Snellings went 3-2. A 3-2 day by Jonny Crome gave him a fifth place finish at 120lbs for Marysville and Joey Bockin went 3-3 for sixth at 113lbs. 

Ben Dwerlkotte (220lbs), Seth Mooradian (285lbs), Matt Lindhorst (160lbs) and Derek Roever (145lbs) all also were in action for Marysville on the day. 

Wrestling season continues for the Bulldogs at home with a double dual on Tuesday, January 24th.
