Sabetha Leads Performances at Home Big Seven Track Quad

On Tuesday the track season continued for Big Seven League schools as part of League action. Sabetha played host to a League quad with Royal Valley, ACCHS and Perry Lecompton and it was the Bluejays dominating the competition. 

Lady Bluejays with 137.5 total points earned first place by over 70 points as Royal Valley took second, while ACCHS and Perry Lecompton finished out the team standings. In the boys competition it was a tighter race for first place as a team as Sabetha posted 109 points to win by 12 points as Royal Valley took second, while Perry Lecompton and ACCHS took third and fourth. 

Sabetha boys on the way to first place registered first place in all but five of the events on the day, while the girls won 11 total events. Mason Engelken, Eric Renyer and Keegan Cox led the Sabetha boys by winning a pair of events on the day. Engelken swept the 110 and 300 meter hurdles with times of 16.73 and 42.09, while Renyer behind throws of 49'00 and 134'06.50 won the shot put and discus and Cox won the 1600 and 3200 meter runs after posting times of 5:09.25 and 11:33.17. Bluejay boys 4x100 (48.17) and 4x800 (9:26.46) meter relays teams also took first place, while Jamel Bishop won the 400 meter dash (57.85) and Braeden Cox earned first place in the 800 meter run (2:15.70). In the field events both Christian Meyer and Kyle Grimm also earned top performances for Sabetha winning the pole vault (12'00) and javelin (150'04), respectively. 

Lady Bluejays were led by Abby Hinton and Kinley Schuette who each won a pair of events. Hinton with a time of 13.48 took first in the 100 meter dash and a leap of 15'01 won her the long jump, while Schuette swept the 100 and 300 meter hurdles with times of 18.99 and 53.24. Sabetha girls 4x100 (53.75), 4x400 (4:49.31) and 4x800 (11:30.43) all took first place, while Skylar McAfee won the 800 meter run (2:39.03). Mariah Russell, Morgan Schuette and Hunter Lowdermillk all three won field events taking first in the triple jump (31'08), high jump (4'10) and javelin (93'06) 

Royal Valley Panthers had Lucas Broxterman and Taylor Russell leading their performances on the day in Sabetha. Broxterman won the boys long jump (19'09.50) and high jump (6'00), while Russell took first in the girl’s shot put (33'02) and discus (106'10.50). The Panther boys also earned first in the 4x400 meter relay (3:56.31), while in the girls competition Mary Broxterman won the 200 meter dash (28.99) and Kenzie Hegemann took first in the pole vault (8'00). 

Five first place finishes highlighted the day for the ACCHS Tigers with Tucker Smith and Victoria Caplinger each winning two events. Smith sprinted his way to the win in the 100 and 200 meter dashes with times of 12.22 and 23.27, while Caplinger won the girls 1600 and 3200 meter runs after posting times of 6:12.46 and 13:26.51. Kayla Vessar also earned gold for the Tigers as she won the 400 meter dash (1:06.35). 

Perry Lecompton was led by Ike Dwyer who won the boys triple jump with a leap of 39'01.50.
