Atchison & Royal Valley Track Compete at DeSoto Invitational

The Atchison Redmen and Royal Valley Panthers track teams kept the season rolling on Friday as they traveled to compete in the DeSoto Invitational. 

The Atchison girls had the best group of performances all together on the day as they tallied 15 Top five finishes in competition. Talia Rawls led the way for the lady Red as she posted a time of 27.52 to sprint to first place in the 200 meter dash, while also taking second place in 100 meter dash. In the hurdles Arhianna Franklin snagged second place in the 300 meter and then third place in the 100 meter, while Elizabeth Harper placed second in the 100 meter hurdles and added a fourth place finish in the 200 meter dash. In the girls triple jump Atchison had the second and third best jump as Jaihlyn Bratton and Kate McCoole posted those marks, respectively. Emily Jaloma earned the bronze in the 300 meter hurdles, while the 4x400 and 4x400 meter relay teams each notched fourth place finishes. Both Lyndi Hanson and Teagan Hanson earned fourth place finishes in the 1600 and 3200 meter runs. Pair of fifth place finishes were also garnered by Atchison girls as Adalyn Collins placed fifth in the 1600 meter run and Lindsay Anderson finished fifth in the discus. 

Atchison boys were led by a second place finish in the 100 meter dash by LaMarca Tolbert, while Seth Heckle earned a pair of third place finishes in the 110 and 300 meter hurdles.
Alex Martin added a fourth place finish in the triple jump for the Atchison boys at the DeSoto Invitational. 

Royal Valley Panthers were led by the performance of Lucas Broxterman who with a height of 6'03 won the boys high jump and behind a time of 42.83 won the 300 meter hurdles, while also taking fifth in the long jump. Garrett Hicks added a second place showing in the boy's pole vault for the Panthers, while also in the boys competition Kenny Aitkens and Gavin Cumpton posted third and fourth place finishes in the javelin and 110 meter hurdles, respectively. 

Lady Panthers were led by Taylor Russell who earned third place in the discus and also placed fifth in the shot put, while Mary Broxterman took fourth place in the discus and Kenzei Hegemann tallied a fifth place finish. 

Atchison is set to continue their track season on Thursday, May 4th at the Royal Valley Invite, while Royal Valley before hosting track action on May 4th will compete at the Nemaha Central Invite on Tuesday, May 2nd.
