Vermillion Boys Golf Wins Valley Heights Invitational

A windy but beautiful Thursday saw several Twin Valley League teams hit the links and compete against each other in golf action as Valley Heights played host at Waterville Community golf course. 

Vermillion took home the top finish on the day winning the four-man team score crown by 12 strokes after finishing with a 380 score. The host Valley Heights was the only other team to finish under 400 with a team score posting a 392 to take second. Onaga, Republic County, Washington County, Hanover and Marysville finished out the team standings in third through seventh with team scores of 421, 424, 478, 479 and 528. 

Leading the way for Vermillion was the best individual round of the day as Jason Gore shot an 83 and won by three strokes finishing first out of 45 golfers. His teammates, Brandon Anderson and Adam Kenworthy also grabbed Top 10 finishes posting rounds of 95 and 100 to finish sixth and tied for eighth, respectively. 

Valley Heights had a pair of Top 10 finishes as Bryan Yungeberg carded an 86 to earn second place and Dylan Wagner finished seventh with a 99. 

Andrew Meyer led the Linn Bulldogs as he finished with an 89 to tie for third and Laban Sweetser tied for eighth with a 100. 

Onaga and Washington County each had one golfer earn a Top five performance to lead their performances. For the Buffaloes, Ben Kufahl shot a 90 earning fifth place while Evan Ouellette of Washington County tied for third with an 89. 

TVL teams continue their season on Friday, May 5th at the Hanover/Linn Invite and then on Monday, May 8th at the League meet hosted by Washington County at Cedar Hills golf course.
