Centralia Girls & Washington County Boys Win TVL Track Titles

Twin Valley League Track Meet (at Washington County) Results (5-11-17) - Girls & Boys

For the second consecutive year the Twin Valley League track titles were captured by the Centralia girls and Washington County boys. The TVL action was competitive all around with strong performances from all the athletes as Washington County hosted the action this year. 

The boy’s team standings were tight at the top as Washington County took first place with 92 points just edging Hanover by two points giving the Wildcats second place, while Valley Heights earned third place. Battle for fourth, fifth and sixth place was tight as Clifton-Clyde took fourth just one-point ahead of Centralia who placed fifth and Frankfort finished sixth just an half of a point out of fifth. Wetmore, Onaga, Axtell, Linn, Blue Valley and Troy finished out the team standings for the boys finishing seventh through 12th. 

Girls competition saw a bigger margin of victory atop the team standings but it was still close as Centralia totaled 94 points to earn first place by six points over Valley Height who took second, while Axtell earned third place. Fourth place was a tie between Hanover and Linn, while Blue Valley earned sixth. Frankfort, Clifton-Clyde, Troy, Onaga, Washington County, Doniphan West and Wetmore finished out the girls team standings placing seventh through 13th. 

For the Washington County Tigers five of their six first place finishes on the day came in the boys competition with Jerrod Hoover leading the way as he won the 110 meter hurdles (16.38) and high jump (6'04). The throw competitions were swept by the Tiger boys as Jae Eaton, Hunter Kier and Dawson Miller each earned gold in the shot put (51'03.50), discus (160'07) and javelin (184'03), respectively. In the girls competition Jenna Hennerberg earned the TVL title in the shot put behind a throw of 39'09.75. 

Centralia girls used four first place finishes to push them to the League title and that included a new TVL meet record as Breanna Schmitz won the pole vault with a height of 10'03 setting a new record. Morgan Kramer sprinted to times of 12.84 and 26.77 to win the 100 and 200 meter dashes, while Madison Lueger won the javelin with a toss of 125'08.50. Dylan Boeckman led the Panther boy’s performances taking first in the 300 meter hurdles (41.04) and pole vault (14'01) setting a new TVL meet record in the pole vault. 

Valley Heights Mustangs won the most events on the day winning seven between the girls and boys. Skyler Saunders leapt to a pair of top finishes winning the triple jump (34'03.50) and high jump (5'04), while Sam Vermetten earned to two golds also winning the 400 meter dash (1:00.31) and 1600 meter run (5:26.06). Shelby Vermetten tossed her way to a first place finish in the discus (121'08) and in the boys competition Jeremy Reed won the 800 meter run (2:04.51) and the boys 4x800 meter relay (8:37.99) also took first. 

Six first place finishes were garnered by the Hanover Wildcats at the TVL meet on Thursday. In the boys competition Thomas Atkins won the long jump and triple jump with leaps of 19'10 and 42'06.50, while the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:36.31 earned first. Lady Wildcats won both the 4x400 and 4x800 meter relays behind times of 4:15.36 and 10:42.84 and Claire Zarybnicky notched a time of 2:20.81 to win the 800 meter run and set a new TVL meet record. 

A pair of wins in the boys distance runs of 1600 and 3200 meters led the Frankfort Wildcats as Brodric Shirley won both events with times of 4:40.61 and 10:06.90. Brendan Levi added a first place finish in the boy’s 400 meter dash (53.94) and Emilee Ebert won the girls long jump (17'02). 

Axtell Eagles were led by the girl’s 4x100 meter relay team (51.56) who took first and Olivia Kuckelman who won the girls 3200 meter run (12:22.69). 

Clifton-Clyde Eagles had a pair of event winners in the boy’s competition as Nathan Ohlde won the 100 meter dash (11.75) and the 4x100 meter relay (46.78) took first place. 

Georgia Hatesohl earned first place in the girls 100 and 300 meter hurdles posting times of 15.46 and 47.51 and her time in the 300 set a new TVL meet record. 

Wetmore Cardinals also had an event winner on the day as Curtis Bloom won the boys 200 meter dash with a time of 23.92.
