Legion baseball season is underway and Sabetha Post 126 opened up the 2017 season with an 8-5 win at Wymore. Brayden Becker erased an early 1-0 Wymore lead clubbing a grand slam in the top of the 3rd. Becker's blast followed consecutive one-out singles by Blake Frey, Brett Stallbaumer and Joe Gruber. Wymore answered with a run in the bottom of the third and both teams traded runs in the fourth. Sabetha scored a pair of runs in the sixth and another in the seventh to open up an 8-3 leading heading into the bottom of the seventh and went on to earn the win 8-5.

Trevor Kramer tossed the first three and two-third innings scattering four hits, while Gruber pitched the final two and one-third innings fanning five. Frey led the offense with four hits and three runs scored. Stallbaumer & Gruber each added a pair of hits.

The Northeast Kansas League league play opens up Tuesday, May 30th. Sabetha opens league play against Silver Lake in Sabetha with a doubleheader starting at 6:00pm, while Doniphan County will travel to Oskaloosa for a doubleheader, also.
