Winter sports season is upon us and that means plenty of action on the hardwood and the mat with basketball and wrestling. Kanzaland area enjoyed great years last season with all the area teams in basketball and individual wrestlers, too. In basketball nine Kanzaland area teams made the state tournament with two capturing state titles. In wrestling the Kanzaland area saw one wrestler capture a state title in Doniphan West's, Austin Veach, while 50 total area wrestlers competed in state last year.
