Marysville Wrestlers Takes Second at Jayhusker Invitational to Lead Area Performances

The season on the mats continued on Saturday for several area teams as Marysville hosted their annual Jayhusker Invitational. 

Marysville led the way for the area performances taking second place with 165 points on the day behind only Shawnee Heights who posted 201.5 points to win the tournament. Sabetha Bluejays finished sixth as a team out of 13 schools, while Doniphan West and Onaga finished 11th and 13th. 

Leading the way for Marysville was an individual first place finish for Gabe Capp as he posted a 3-0 record at 145lbs to take first. Capp earned all three of his wins by pinfall in 3:28, 1:31 and 3:44. A quartet of Bulldogs earned second place on the day on their home mats as Seth Mooradian (285lbs), Storm Slupianek (160lbs), Noah Ackerman (152lbs) and Ethan Crownover (126lbs) all took second. Mooradian posted a 2-1 record with a pinfall (1:46) and 5-3 decision win, while Slupianek also went 2-1 earning a pinfall (1:30) win and a 5-0 decision victory. Ackerman went 3-1 with two pinfall wins (1:02 & 5:06) and also a 3-0 decision, while Crownover went 2-1 with a pinfall (0:18) and decision (4-2) win. Jonny Crome grabbed a third place finish at 132lbs going 3-1 on the mats, while Atreyau Hornbeak (170lbs) and Garron Champoux (182lbs) both went 3-1 to also take third place. Both Kaleb Parker (220lbs) and Jakob Snellings (120lbs) each registered 2-2 days on the mats to take fourth place. 

A 2-1 performance by Cauy Rokey at 195lbs earned him second place notching a pinfall win in 2:41 and also a 6-4 decision win. Kaden Dillon (113lbs) and Brandon Brownlee (145lbs) both earned third place finishes going 2-1 and 3-1, respectively. It was fourth place finishes for both Walker Lowdermilk (160lbs) and Elliott Strahm (285lbs) as both went 2-2 in action. 

Doniphan West was led by third place performance by Zeb Speer as he went 3-1 at 160lbs to earn third at the Jayhusker Invitational.
