Sixteen Area High School Basketball Teams Ranked in Latest KBCA Rankings

Only a couple weeks are left in the regular season and teams are gearing up for postseason play and trying to finish the regular season strong. The lastest Kansas Basketball Coaches Association features 16 area teams in the polls. 

Eight of the 16 area teams are ranked in the Class 1A-Division I polls. In the girls rankings the Centralia Panthers continue to hold the #2 spot and sit at 14-2 on the season after beating Valley Heights last week. Hanover girls check in at #3 again this week and sit at 12-3 on the season after a win over Onaga last week. While Valley Falls girls moved up two spots to #6 this week after road wins at Maur Hill-Mount Academy and Jefferson County North to move to 14-2 on the season. Frankfort girls fell three spots in the rankings to #7 after losing their fourth game of the season falling to Clifton-Clyde moving to 13-4 on the year. 

On the boys side of the rankings there was no change for the four Twin Valley League teams in the poll as Doniphan West, Hanover, Clifton-Clyde and Centralia remain ranked #2, #3, #6 and #8 respectively. Doniphan West fell to 14-2 on the season after falling to Falls City Sacred Heart last week, while Hanover improved to 14-1 after a win over Onaga. Clifton-Clyde moved to 15-2 on the season with a win over Frankfort last week, while Centralia beat Valley Heights to move to 10-7 on the season. 

Four area teams remain ranked in Class 3A. The Nemaha Central girls who have been ranked at #2 for the past few weeks took over the #1 spot in the state and sit at 15-2 on the season after wins over Sabetha and Royal Valley last week. On the boys side the Maur Hill-Mount Academy Ravens for the second straight week jump up two spots to #6 and sit at 15-1 on the season after beating Valley Falls last week. Perry Lecompton moved down one spot to #8 this week; the Kaws are 14-2 on the season after a win over Riverside. Nemaha Central boys check in at #9 again this week and sit at 14-3 on the season after beating Royal Valley and Sabetha last week. 

Class 4A-Division II continues have four area teams in the poll with three in the girls rankings again this week. Jeff West girls are up one spot again this week moving up to #3 after beating ACCHS and Holton last week to move to 14-2 on the season. Marysville girls fell two spots to #7 and now sit at 11-4 on the season after a tough overtime loss to Clay Center last week. Holton girls move down to #8 this week after falling to Jeff West last week to move to 11-5 on the season. Marysville boys remain ranked #5 this week after beating Clay Center last week to be now 13-2 on the season. 

With only a couple weeks left area teams continue to position themselves for Sub-State.
