Holton Hosts Track Invite with Multiple Area Teams Competing

Holton played host to multiple schools to open the track season last Tuesday as Jackson Heights, Atchison and Valley Falls were all in competition, while Abilene was also in action. 

For the host Holton it was six first place event winners on the day that led the charge. On the girls side of competition Tabor Barta ran her way to first in the 100 meter hurdles (17.90), while the 4x100 meter relay team (54.87) also took first. While in the field events the lady Wildcats were led by Saydee Tanking who won the javelin (106'11) and Olivia Mulenga who took first in the high jump (4'04). Andrew Harrison and Canon Karn led the Holton boys as they won the discus (131'09) and triple jump (42'05.50), respectively. 

Atchison was led by the performance of Alex Martin who brought home four gold medals as he sprinted his way to times of 11.15, 23.30 and 53.87 to win the 100, 200 and 400 meter dashes and also posted a leap of 20'02.50 to win the long jump.  Matthew Sowers earned first place in the 3200 meter run (11:38.88), while in the girls competition Teagan Hanson won the same event taking first in the 3200 meter run (14:03.12). Talia Rawls won a pair of event for Atchison as she sprinted to first place in the 100 and 400 meter dashes with times of 13.00 and 63.93. 

Sway Schmelzle led the Valley Falls Dragons as she won the 200 meter dash (27.40) and the long jump (15'10), while in the boys action Nathan Hawk took first place in the high jump (5'10).  

Jackson Heights had a pair of first place finishers on the day both coming in the girls competition as Faith Little won the 1600 meter run (5:35.66) and Grace Roles took first in the discus (104'04).
