NEKL All-League Baseball & Softball Honors Awarded

The high school baseball and softball season officially came to a close last week and with that the Northeast Kansas League has handed out its postseason baseball and softball all-league honors.

The Oskaloosa Bears led the way in the baseball all-league honors with six selections, as the Bears won the league with a perfect 7-0 record and finished with an overall record of 20-2. The Bears had both Hunter Reed and Jerod Shufflebarger earn first-team honors at pitcher, while Jared Miller earned a first team nod at catcher. Heath Knopp and Triston Hopkins also each earned all-league honors on the infield, while Lucas Hatfield finished up all-league selections for the Bears earning a first-team outfielder spot.

Maur Hill-Mount Academy finished with five all-league selections after finishing second in the league at 6-2, while ending the year with an overall record of 17-4. Ayden Black was the lone Raven to earn an all-league selection at pitcher, while Jared Thibault picked up all-league honors on the infield. Colten Kocour and Parker Mispagel rounded out position players that earned all-league honors for the Ravens, while Abe Siebenmorgen was an all-league selection at utility/designated hitter.

The remainder of the NEKL all-league baseball selections belonged to Pleasant Ridge and Valley Falls, as the Rams finished the league season 4-4 while the Dragons were 2-6. Cole Blanke and Konner Walker picked up the two first-team selections for the Rams at pitcher and infield, while the Dragons’ Cole Brosa in the outfield rounded out first-team all-league baseball honors.

On the softball side of the Northeast Kansas League it was Oskaloosa who dominated the all-league honors finishing with five selections, as the Lady Bears won the regular season title with a perfect 8-0 record before ending the year runner-up to Silver Lake at the 3A state tournament with an overall record of 22-4. Brylie Bassett picked up a first-team nod at pitcher, while on the infield the Lady Bears finished with two selections in Megan Miller and Paige Lowe. Oskaloosa had just one player earn all-league honors in the outfield in Jaden Courter, while Sophia Rockhold rounded out the Lady Bears all-league selections earning a first-team spot at utility/designated hitter.

McLouth finished right behind Oskaloosa in the league standings taking second with a 6-2 league record, and the Lady Bulldogs finished with four players on the all-league first team. Brooke Vicory earned a first-team nod at pitcher, while her battery mate Jennica Messer picked up an all-league selection at catcher. The Lady Bulldogs rounded out their all-league selctions on the infield, as Kimi Patterson and Madison Pope each earned first-team honors.

Valley Falls finished with three players on the first team, as the Lady Dragons took third in the league with a 4-4 league record and an overall mark of 16-7. Allison Kearney picked up an all-league selection at pitcher, while Reagan Kirkwood was named to the first team on the infield and Drew DeLong as an outfielder.

Maur Hill-Mount Academy and Pleasant Ridge rounded out the first-team all-league honors as the Lady Ravens had two players earn all-league honors in Emmaly Dryden and Maddie Baniewicz, while the Lady Rams had Sierra Robinson pick up a first-team nod as an outfielder.
