Week Three High School Football Rankings Released

The high school football season continued last week and with that the second set of regular season high school football rankings have been released.

In Class 3A the Sabetha Bluejays continue to be ranked at the top of the state, checking in at No. 1 according to the Topeka Capitol Journal and at No. 2 on kpreps.com. Sabetha is off to a 2-0 start to the year after another dominating win last week, as the Bluejays blew out Riverside 55-0 in a game that was played at Highland Community College.

A new team has cracked the top five of the 3A rankings in Perry Lecompton, as the Kaws snuck into the Kpreps’ rankings this week at No. 5. Perry opened up the season with a 68-0 thumping of Royal Valley, and then last week pitched another shutout taking down Holton 46-0. The Kaws will have their biggest test of the season this Friday night, as they will take on Sabetha on the road with live coverage on KNZA 103.9 FM.

Just one area team holds a spot in the 2A rankings, as Nemaha Central checks in at No. 5 according to the Cap Journal with a 1-1 record after a 38-14 win at home over Hiawatha. The Thunder will hit the road this week, traveling to Holton with live coverage on 92.1 KMZA.

Once again just one area team is in the 8-man division one rankings, as the Cap Journal has Clifton-Clyde at No. 4. The Eagles are off to a 2-0 start to the year and have allowed just six points through two games, with the latest win coming in a 56-6 beat down of Valley Falls.

In 8-man division two, two area teams have cracked the top five with the Hanover Wildcats sitting in the top spot once again according to both publications. The Wildcats are off to a 2-0 start to the season after a 52-6 win over Doniphan West Friday night and have given up just six total points all season.

Another Twin Valley League team has also cracked the top five, as the Cap Journal has the Axtell Eagles at No. 4 this week. The Eagles have dominated in their two wins this season, with the latest victory coming in 62-12 win over Blue Valley-Randolph.
