Just four schools hit the track Thursday night at the Doniphan West Relays, and it was the Mustang girls taking first leading the way while the Wetmore boys finished second.

The Doniphan West girls finished with 10 first place finishers, led by Elle Williams and Sade Leach who each had three wins. Williams won the 1600, 3200 and 800-meter runs, while Leach won the discus, javelin and shot put. Heidi Leach also won the 200-meter dash and long jump, while Emma Albers won the 400-meter dash.

Wetmore also had Savannah Bryant win the 100-meter hurdles, Alyssa Bloom the triple jump and the 4 by 100-meter relay team.

On the boy’s side Wetmore led area teams with four gold medal winners, behind Joel Hutfles who won both the discus and javelin throw. The Cardinals also had Eric Bloom win the 3200-meter run while Austin Smith won the 800-meter run.

Doniphan West and Troy rounded out area first place finishers, as the Mustangs had Trent Spiker win the 400-meter dash and long jump while the Trojans had Isaac Houghton win the shot put.
