It was the first home games since January for the Jeff West Tigers and on a night that included winter royalty, Shrine Bowl Presentation for Kauli Saili, special fan recognition and multiple performances by the cheer and dance squads, the Tigers took care of business on the court and earned a pair of impressive wins against Riverside to complete the season sweep.

GIRLS = Jeff West 55, Riverside 16

Jeff West started the game on a 15-0 run and held Riverside without a single field goal in the entire first half while taking a 24-2 lead at intermission. Then Kristin Biltoff ignited a 16-0 run in the third quarter with 14 points and the lead balooned past 40 points as the Lady Tigers, as they seemingly always do in the second half of each season, continued their hot streak by winning their fifth contest in their last six outings.

Biltoff finished with a game high 19 points while Heather Kahler added 12 and Mellany Roenne scored seven points early and finished with 11.  Roenne was 7 of 8 from the free throw line and Jeff West made 19 of their first 22 free throws on the night before missing three late attempts. The Tigers improved to 10-7 on the season and 7-4 in the Big 7 League and will now get three more home contests in a row after winning 7 of their last 9 games.

Riverside had 17 turnovers in the first half and finished with 24 total while making just four field goals in the game.  Jaismon Murphy scored six of her eight points in the fourth quarter including the Cyclones only trey. Riverside fell to 2-15 overall and 0-11 in the Big 7 League.

BOYS = Jeff West 35, Riverside 22

It was a defensive struggle in the boys game with both teams playing zone defense most of the night. Neither offense could find much success, but Jeff West never trailed after a 7-0 run to close the first period with a 7-2 lead. Riverside got within a point at 10-9 but trailed 17-9 at halftime and never got closer than six points the rest of the game. The Tigers biggest lead of the night was the final margin of 13 points.

Garrett Athon scored all 11 of his points in the second half while eight players scored but no one else had more than five points. The Tigers snapped a two-game slide and improved to 10-7 overall and 6-5 in the Big 7 League.

Riverside could not build on a win earlier in the week against Nemaha Central and fell to 6-11 overall and 2-9 in league play. Bray Davies scored 9 of his 11 points in the third stanza but no other Cyclone had more than four in the lowest scoring output of the season.
