The Kansas Cross Country & Track and Field Association (KCCTFCA) has announced their cross country coaches of the year honors and one Kanzaland area coach earned Coach of the Year honors. Those honors went to Axtell Eagle coach, Brenda Peshcel who won the Girls 1A Coach of the Year honors from KCCTFCA.

Axtell enjoyed a great year for their cross country program as the girls finished second at state improving upon their third place performance in 2011 and eighth place in 2010. The Eagles were lead by Audrey Schmitz who won her third straight state title in 1A, while her remaining teammates all finished in the top 53 to help Axtell register that second place finish at state. Tracy Schmitz placed 23rd, Susan Peschal 24th, Alexis and Paige Werner 52nd and 53rd, respectively.

Coach Peschel lead the Lady Eagles to a stellar season running to success yet again for Axtell and that earned her the Girls 1A Cross Country Coach of the Year in Kansas given out by KCCTFCA.
