It was the 25th annual Sadowski Wrestling Tournament in Holton on Saturday and the first time for a girls bracket as 21 boys and 14 girls teams competed including several 4A and 5A schools.
The Holton girls came away with a third place team finish while the Wildcat boys placed fourth as a team. Also from the area, the Sabetha boys were fifth and Nemaha Central was in the top 10 as the Thunder continue their first season as a program. The McLouth girls were fifth and Perry Lecompton girls tied for seventh.
The Holton girls were led by Gracie Gallagher who claimed an individual title at 132 pounds. Fellow state ranked Lady Wildcats Macey Gross (120) and Sadie Walker (143) finished second place in their respective bracket. Holton also got third place finishes from Piper Robinson (115), Morisa Ware (155), Madeline Montgomery (191) and Karoline Tannahill (235).
Leighanna Patz from McLouth was the champion at 126 pounds while Aubry Miracle of Perry Lecompton placed third at 120 pounds.
On the boys side, Holton was led by Jayden Fletcher (160) and Dustin Chermock (285) who placed first while Dalton Roush was second at 220 pounds. Cale Hein of the Wildcats battled for a third place finish at 126.
Sabetha had an individual champion as Josh Herrmann took the 170 pound title while Colin Menold was second in the 132 pound bracket. Nemaha Central had a pair of third place grapplers in Mo Hilbert (170) and Keaton Rottinghaus (106) as did Oskaloosa with Colson Perry (182) and Justin Miller (275).
