Green Sports Complex in Pratt, Kansas - Class 2-1A State Softball Tourney

It was business as usual for the Troy softball team as they routed Belle Plain 7-0 Thursday to stay unbeaten at 22-0 and advance in their first ever state tournament appearance. Paityn Engemann tossed a two-hit shutout and struck out 14 batters while Emma McConnaughey hit a three-home homer with two outs in the second inning to give the Lady Trojans all the offense they would need.  The deep center jack came from Troy's number nine hitter and made it 4-0 before they added one run in the third frame and put the game out of reach with another clutch two-out hit by Avery Euler who drove in a pair of runs with a double to make it 7-0 in the fourth inning.

Engemann went 2-3 including a leadoff double in the second before Jacey Moore switched her spots to get Troy on the board. McConnaughey was 2-2 at the plate with a pair of runs scored and three batted in on one swing of the bat. Moore also had two hits and Euler scored two runs as Troy combined for 10 total hits and half of them went for extra bases.

Troy will play their semifinal at 11 AM on Friday against Central Heights who improved to 15-7 by knocking off a one-loss Bluestem team that was the third seed. Troy will also play for third or first place after 1 PM as they try to become the first ever girls team sport in Troy history to place in the top three of state.  The games will be broadcast live on KNZA 103.9 FM and free online at www.mscsports.net.
