Perry-Lecompton hosted a cross country meet on Thursday with some area teams participating.

The Kaws’ boys’ team finished sixth place with 124 points. Jefferson West finished ninth with 204 points, and Royal Valley finished tenth out of ten teams with 291 points.  Bishop Miege finished first, Louisburg finished second, and Tonganoxie finished third.

The fastest area runner was Perry-Lecompton junior Boyd Sollars who placed 12th with a time of 18:53. Dylan Tucker finished a few seconds behind him at 19:04 and finishing 15th.

Jefferson West junior Lucas Twombly placed 23rd with a team-best 19:37. Sophomore Walker Coulter finished best for Royal Valley with his time of 21:27 which placed him 46th.

Holton freshman Carter Colberg ran as well with a time of 29:19. He was the only Wildcat to run in the race, so the Wildcats didn’t qualify for any team points.

For the girls’ meet, Perry-Lecompton finished seventh with 150 points, and Jefferson West finished eighth out of eight teams with 171 points. Louisburg won the meet, Tonganoxie finished second, and Paola placed third.

Perry-Lecompton sophomore Katie Bartlett ran a team-best 23:31 which was good enough for 13th place.

Jefferson West sophomore Nova Chatham finished 25th finished with the team’s best time with 24:49.
