Cats Run Past Texas Tech to Stay Unbeaten in Conference Play

The K-State football team kept the momentum going after the Oklahoma win as they rushed past Texas Tech 37-28 on Saturday (10/1) in Manhattan. 

The Wildcats (4-1, 2-0) rushed for 343 yards and averaged nearly nine yards per carry. Texas Tech (3-2, 1-1) threw for 359 yards and outgained Kansas State 473-459.

Cats scored the first 13 points of the game but led just 13-10 at halftime. It was tied 20-20 going into the fourth quarter but K-State outscored the Red Raiders 17-8 in the final 15 minutes. 

Quarterback Adrian Martinez and running back Deuce Vaughn led the way for K-State on the ground. Martinez ran for 171 yards and three touchdowns while Vaughn ran for 170 yards. 

Martinez averaged over 14 yards per carry while Vaughn averaged over seven yards per carry. 

The combo of Martinez and Vaughn are number one in college football for combined rushing yards between a QB-RB duo. 

Kansas State is up to #20 in the latest AP poll and will play at Iowa State on Saturday (10/8).
