The Nemaha Central football team enjoyed a perfect season in 2022.
The Thunder went 13-0 capturing the Big 7 title, District title and 2A State Championship. The playoff run included wins over Pleasant Ridge, Rossville, Humboldt, Sabetha, and Kingman in the State Championship game.
The Thunder built a 33-3 lead over Kingman in the Title game before going on to win it 33-17.
The Thunder were dominant playing only one game that was decided by less than 10 points and that was the season opener against Holton. The Thunder offense led Class 2A by averaging over 48 points per game.
Nemaha Central’s average margin of victory in 2022 was 37 points per game. Thunder RB Cooper Hajek was named Sports in Kansas 2A Offensive Player of the Year as he rushed for over 2,000 yards and 42 touchdowns.
Second year head coach Michael Glatczak was named Sports in Kansas 2A Coach of the Year. It was Nemaha Central’s second State Title in the last four years as they also won it all in 2019.
