#13 Iowa State cruised to an easy victory over #8 Kansas on Saturday 68-53. Kansas trailed for all but 1:14 of game time with the deficit getting as large as 21 in the second half.

Jaren Holmes led the way for Iowa State with 15 points. Early in the second half, Kansas had cut their deficit to five and Holmes had six straight points to get the lead back to 11. The Jayhawks never got back within ten from that point on.

Osun Osunniyi had 13 points and dominated the glass for the Clones.

Jalen Wilson led in scoring for Kansas with 26 points, making it his sixth straight contest with 20+ points.

No other Jayhawks scored more than ten points, which has been an issue with Kansas in a lot of their Big 12 games.

Their biggest problem, however, was their turnovers. They gave the ball to Iowa State 20 times compared to just ten ISU turnovers.

With the win, Iowa State improves to 12-0 playing in front of their home crowd at Hilton Coliseum.

The win also gets them to 7-3 (16-6 overall) in Big 12 play and positions themselves just a half-game back of #10 Texas, who enter the day 7-2.

As for Kansas, they fall to 6-4 in conference games (18-5 overall) which is 1.5 games back and tied for fifth place.

The Jayhawks have the potential for a big bounce back game at home against Texas on ESPN’s “Big Monday” block at 8 p.m.
