Valley Falls and Jefferson County North split a Friday night doubleheader with both games close and entertaining.

The Chargers controlled the pace of the game early and had to hold off the Dragons late rally in the fourth quarter to get the win.

JCN built an eight point halftime lead at 28-20 as they outscored Valley Falls 15-8 in the second quarter.

They held a 10 point lead going into the fourth quarter but the Dragons fought back and made it close but it wasn't enough to pull out the win on the road.

This game was expected to be close and it lived up to the hype plus some. It went back and forth the entire game with the Dragons stealing one at the buzzer with Zac Evans hitting the game winning lay up as time expired.

The Dragons had some late turnovers and missed free throws down the stretch that kept JCN in the game.

Andrew Baker posted a monster second half for the Chargers and made a shot with 11 seconds left to give JCN the late lead before Evans won it at the buzzer.

Baker finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds while Connor Keirns added 11 points for JCN.
