The Valley Falls boys basketball team had to hold off a late rally by Pleasant Ridge on Monday night to advance in their Class 2A Sub-State 51-49. 

The Dragons had an eight point lead in the final couple of minutes but the Rams hit three straight three's to get back to within one with under 20 seconds left. 

The Dragons missed some free throws down the stretch which helped the Rams stay in the game. After a missed free throw with 15 seconds left the Rams had a chance to tie or win the game at the buzzer but their attempt rolled off the rim and the Dragons held on for the win. 

Zac Evans led Valley Falls with 24 points and seven rebounds. Evans finished the game 13 of 19 at the free throw line. The Dragons as a team finished 18 of 28 from the free throw line and they outrebounded Pleasant Ridge 31-19. 

Aiden Webb led Pleasant Ridge with 21 points and he hit five three's in the game and Canon Duncan added 13 points. 

Valley Falls improves to 12-8 with the win and advances to the Sub-State Semi-Finals on Thursday where they will play at Horton. The other Semi-Final game at Horton on Thursday will feature Jefferson County North and Riverside. 

Pleasant Ridge with the loss end their 2022-2023 season with a record of 6-15.
