Auburn boys finish runner-up in C1 State Tournament

(KLZA)-- The Auburn Bulldogs appeared in their fifth consecutive Class C1 State Championship game Saturday morning at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln.
The Bulldogs came up short in their quest for a fourth state title in the past five years losing to third ranked Ashland-Greenwood 54-24.
It is the second consecutive year the Bluejays have defeated Auburn in the title game.
The Bluejay defense was tremendous holding the Bulldogs to just 24 points and only three-3-point buckets in the game.
Peyton Boden led Auburn with 7 points on the day. The Bluejays were led by Brooks Kissinger with 16 and Cougar Konzem with 13.
Tournamet highlights for Auburn was a win over number one ranked Wahoo on Wednesday to advance to the semi finals. Sophomore Nixon Ligouri was named to the Class C1 All-Tournament Team.
Auburn completes the season with a 21-7 record.
