The Sabetha boys and girls track and field teams both won the Big 7 League Quad that they hosted on Tuesday afternoon.
The boys’ team finished with 105 points, just three more than runner-up Perry-Lecompton (102). The girls, however, dominated with 112 points with the Kaws also placing second with just 51 points.
13 of the 17 girls’ events were won by Sabetha or an individual Bluejay.
Among those was the 4x400 relay which consisted of Abby Whittaker, Krysta Menold, Mary Lukert and Olivia Baumgartner, who ran for a first-place time of 4:45.60.
Junior Bayley Wasinger from Sabetha ran a season record of 13.67 in the 100-meter dash to earn first place.
In the boys’ 100-meter dash, Perry-Lecompton sophomore Eli Dean won the event with a time of 11.67. He also won the 200-meter dash as well with a time of 24.01.
Sabetha freshman Josh Enneking won the 400-meter dash and set a personal record with a time of 55.52.
Riverside sophomore Landon Conrad won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:11.65 which is a season best.
A pair of Bluejays ran a sub-five-minute 1600-meter run and finished within a second of each other. Freshman Charlie Lukert won the race with a time of 4:54.21 and his teammate sophomore Brody Deters finished with a time of 4:54.83. Both of those times were personal records as well. Sabetha also owned the entire podium with junior Kalvin Evans getting third place with a time of 5:05.79.
