Sabetha sweeps Big 7 Quad

The Sabetha track and field teams swept the Big 7 league quad that they hosted on Tuesday afternoon. 

Girls: The Bluejays had a solid afternoon as they finished with 112 points while Perry Lecompton finished second place with 51 points. 

Riverside finished third place with 30 points and Royal Valley finished fourth with 28 points. 

The Bluejays won multiple events including Abby Whittaker in the 100 meter hurdles and Bayley Wasinger in the 100 meter dash. Whittaker also won the 300 meter hurdles. 

Mary Lukert won multiple events that included the 800 and 1600 meter runs. Halle Scoby won both the shot put and discus, Mya Grimes won the javelin, and Olivia Baumgartner won the pole vault. 

Perry Lecompton had a first place finish from Emma Nally in the high jump along with multiple top three finishes. 

Riverside got a first place finish from Sophie Juhl in the triple jump plus they added a top finish in the 4x100 meter relay. 

Royal Valley's top finisher was Killie Johnson as she won the 200 meter dash. 

Boys: It was down to Sabetha and Perry Lecompton but it was the Bluejays who had the edge as they finished with 105 points while the Kaws finished with 102 points. 

Royal Valley finished in third place with 28 points and Riverside finished fourth place with 26 points. 

The Bluejays got solid afternoons from Nohl Niehues and Joshua Grimm. Niehues won the triple jump and pole vault while Grimm won both the shot put and discus. 

Davis Rokey won the javelin as the Bluejays had the top three finishers in that event. 

Kalvin Evans won the 3200 meter run, Charlie Lukert won the 1600 meter run, and Josh Enneking won the 400 meter dash. 

The Kaws had a bevy of first place finishes with Kael Gorski winning both the high jump and 110 meter hurdles. Eli Dean won both the 100 and 200 meter dash, Gunnar Ball won the 300 meter hurdles, and Jason Boose won the long jump. 

Royal Valley didn't win an event but had multiple top three finishes throughout the day while Riverside had a first place finish from Landon Conard in the 800 meters.
