Both Nemaha Central Track and Field Teams Place First in Home Big 7 Quad

Nemaha Central swept their home Big 7 Quad on Tuesday afternoon with team wins for both the boys’ and girls’ track and field teams.

They both did so handily with the girls scoring 140.5 points with Jefferson West a distant second with 64 points. The boys scored 108 points with Hiawatha getting runner-up with 69 points.

The Thunder girls took home first place in the 4x400 and 4x800-meter relays. They finished with a time of 4:42.42 in the 4x400 with the team made up of Maddy Mosteller, Ella Larkin, Cali Honeyman and Hailey Nordhus. They ran a 11:05.48 time in the 4x800 with the team consisting of Maddy Mosteller, Ellie Hermesch, Jade Macke and Hailey Nordhus.

Hiawatha sophomore Dani Morton finished first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.21. Jefferson West took home the gold in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.16 which was a season record for her.

The Hiawatha boys swept the relays with wins in the 4x800, 4x400 and 4x100-meter races. The 4x800 team was comprised of Felix McCartney, Camden Bachman, Jordan Hodge and Riley Gibbs which finished with a time of 8:29.62. The 4x400-meter A-team finished with a time of 3:46.88 which was made up of Connor Kettler, Ashton Rockey, Brandt Barnhill and Kaden Morton. The 4x100-meter relay team finished with a time of 44.81 which was made up of Ashton Rockey, Riley Gibbs, Brandt Barnhill and Connor Kettler.

Holton junior Eli Hallauer won the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.84. Hiawatha sophomore Connor Kettler ran a personal best 23.83 which got him the gold.
