Royal Valley sweeps home invitational

The Royal Valley track and field teams swept their home May invitational on Thursday afternoon.

The Panther girls finished with 130 points while Jefferson West finished in second place with 88 points. Mission Valley finished third with 80 points, Silver Lake fourth with 50 points, Holton fifth with 40 points, Atchison sixth with 39 points, Oskaloosa seventh with 20 points and Maur Hill-Mount Academy eighth with three points. 

Cheyenne Hittle led Royal Valley with a pair of first place finishes in both the 1600 and 3200 meters. Tressa Jim added a first place finish in the 800 meters and Tyjha Henderson finished first in the javelin. 

Jefferson West won both the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays and added first place finishes from Olivia Scott in the 200 meters and Kolbie Noel in the long jump. 

Holton had a few second place finishes while Atchison got a pair of first place finishes from Tyeera Heyward in both the 100 and 300 meter hurdle events. 

The Panther boys finished with 128 points while Atchison finished in second place with 114 points. Mission Valley finished third with 73 points, Silver Lake in fourth with 65 points, Jefferson West in fifth with 61 points, Oskaloosa in sixth with 37 points, Holton in seventh with 15 points and Maur Hill-Mount Academy in eighth with six points. 

The Panthers had a handful of first place finishes with Jaemon Smith winning both the 1600 and 3200 meters, Peyton Thomes won the 300 meter hurdles, Josh Boyden won the discus, Daniel Coleman won the long jump and Griffin Cumpton won the triple jump. 

Atchison landed a first place finish from Christopher Tschauder in the 800 meters while they also finished first place in the 4x400 meter relay. 

Jefferson West got first place finishes from Jason Payne in both the 200 and 400 meters while Ean Martin won the 110 meter hurdles. 

Colson Perry led Oskaloosa with a first place finish in the shot put and a second place finish in the discus.
