The Sabetha Post 126 Raptors handily defeated Doniphan County Post 55 14-4 in four innings on Friday afternoon.
The Raptors scored the first two runs of the game with the first one coming in the first inning from a wild pitch. The second run came from an RBI single from left fielder Isaac Harter.
Doniphan County Post 55 responded with four runs in the top of the third inning to take a 4-2 lead. Shortstop Kolter Peterson got hit by a pitch with the bases loaded for the first run, and left fielder Seth Judd hit a fly ball to the outfield that was dropped which scored their next three runs.
The Raptors wouldn’t get discouraged, though, as they would score four more runs in the bottom of the third to retake the lead 6-4. Shortstop Chase Frey had an RBI base knock followed by three baserunners scoring on wild pitches.
Sabetha was then able to end the ballgame with eight more additional runs in the fourth. They batted around the entire hitting order without recording a single out. Catcher Josh Hermann had an RBI double to bring home the first run of the inning. First baseman Jacob Grimm brought Hermann home with an RBI single on the next at bat. Third baseman Harper Schmelzle had the lone multi-RBI base hit as he scored brought runners to the plate with a single. Extra hitter Joshua Grimm also had an RBI single and right fielder Will Ulrich earned an RBI with a walk.
Hermann was one of two Raptor hitters with multiple hits on Friday. He went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI. He is the McDonalds Player of the Game.
The other hitter to accomplish a multi-hit game was Joshua Grim. He also went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run.
