The Seneca legion baseball team kept their season alive on Thursday night at home with an 8-5 win over Sabetha in the AA Zone 4 Tournament.
The big difference in the game was Seneca scoring seven runs in the fifth inning to turn a 1-1 tie into an 8-1 lead.
Seneca got RBI's in the inning from Jonah Deters, John Strathman, Cooper Kramer, and Wade Leonard.
Strathman was also the winning pitcher in the game going five-plus innings allowing three earned runs with seven strikeouts.
Strathman's performance earned him the KNZA McDonald's of Hiawatha and Seneca player of the game.
Sabetha didn't go away quietly as they scored four runs in the sixth and then got their first two batters on in the seventh.
Seneca's Kace Kramer would follow that up by striking out the side to end the game and earn the four-out save.
The loss for Sabetha eliminated them from the tournament and the win for Seneca means they'll have to win two straight games on Friday to advance to state next week.
Seneca will play Doniphan County at 6:00 PM with the winner playing Hiawatha at 8:00 PM. Both games broadcast live on KNZA 103.9 FM.
