The Corning legion baseball team will have to win out if they want to play for a State Title as they dropped their first game in Concordia 6-1 vs. Beloit on Thursday.
Corning entered the AA tournament with six straight wins and coming off scoring a total of 24 runs in the two wins of the zone tournament last week.
Corning finished with six hits total against Beloit and the lone run was a sacrifice fly from Henry Heideman in the fourth inning.
Beloit scored two in the first, one in the third, two in the fifth, and one more in the seventh. They finished the game with nine hits.
Brodie Schroeder was the starting pitcher for Beloit and he pitched all seven innings and tallying three strikeouts.
Corning is eliminated with one more loss and they will play another game Thursday night at 9:00 PM against Colby or Iola needing a win to stay alive in the tournament.
The game will be broadcast live on KMZA 92.1 FM.
