Corning eliminates Seneca from State Tournament in Concordia

The Corning legion baseball team continued their run at the state tournament in Concordia on Friday afternoon with a 7-4 win over Seneca. 

The loss for Seneca eliminates them from the tournament as they finish the summer with a record of 12-10. 

Corning jumped out to an early lead with three runs in the first inning highlighted by a two-RBI double from J.T. Ross. 

Trenton Talley added an RBI groundout in the second inning and they would add a pair in the fourth with RBI's from Ross and Zac Fisher. 

Seneca scored one in the third, two in the fifth, and one in the sixth. They finished the game with nine hits and they stranded eight base runners. 

Wade Leonard reached base three times and had a triple and a run scored in the third inning. Jonah Deters drove in two runs while Kace Kramer had two hits including an RBI triple. 

Fisher and Hunter Lamond combined to pitch all seven innings for Corning. Fisher pitched into the sixth inning and Lamond recorded the final five outs. 

Corning's record improves to 13-3 as they'll play at 9:00 AM on Saturday morning. They will need to win back-to-back games on Saturday to secure a spot in the State Championship game on Sunday.
