The Corning legion baseball team had their summer come to an end at the AA State Tournament on Saturday against Concordia.
Corning was leading the game 5-1 going into the bottom of the sixth inning but Concordia scored 11 runs in the frame to put the game away and win it 12-6.
Concordia sent 15 batters to the plate in that inning highlighted by a grand slam from Stryker Hake which turned a 5-5 tie into a 9-5 Concordia lead.
Corning pitching struggled in the inning allowing four runs on walks with the bases loaded.
Trenton Talley was named the KMZA McDonald's of Hiawatha and Seneca player of the game as he reached base in all four of his at-bats. Talley finished with two walks, one single, one double, one RBI, and two runs scored.
J.T Ross drove in a pair and drove in six runs total over the last two games. Kyler Wommack also reached base in three of his four at-bats.
Corning's summer ends with a record of 13-4 and a fourth place finish at state.
