Paityn Engemann of Troy and Halle Studer of Riverside competed for a softball national championship Sunday night.
They were playing in the U18 Alliance Fastpitch Championship Series in California and playing for Aces Fastpitch.
They were swept in the best two out of three series against the Orange County Batbusters with losses of 1-0 and 9-0 at Cal State Fullerton Stadium.
Their squad was 8-0 heading into the championship series after winning their regional, super regional, elite 8, and final four games in Chino Hills this past week.
The Aces Fastpitch organization is based out of Kansas City and the national team is filled with top talent out of Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and Florida.
Engemann recently graduated from Troy and is on her way to continue her softball career at Central Arkansas. Studer is heading into her senior season at Riverside and is committed to continue her career at Missouri State.
