Today is a day that gives people a feeling of hope, excitement, anticipation and angst: the start of a brand-new high school football season.

Teams in the Kanzaland area begin practice today with many questions from the upcoming season that will soon be answered.

Can Axtell and Nemaha Central repeat as state champs?

Will Centralia stay atop the Twin Valley League 11-Man standings for another season? Or will someone else dethrone them?

Can ACCHS continue their Northeast Kansas League winning streak that began all the way back in 2021?

Who will be the teams that rise to the occasion that are being slept on?

Whatever the answers are to said questions, the 2023 high school football season in northeast Kansas is bound to be a great one, and it all begins today.

The regular season starts with Week 1 on September 1st and you can bet that we will be there to cover every game, every touchdown and every snap.

The 2023 Pigskin Preview is set to be released soon with many area businesses carrying them once again.
