The Kansas media preseason football rankings have been released as we're less than three weeks out from week one games.
Both Nemaha Central (2A) and Axtell (8M-II) are coming off state championship seasons in 2022 and they'll begin 2023 ranked #1 in their respective classes.
Two more Big 7 squads will begin the season ranked #3 in their respective classes with Holton (3A) and Sabetha (2A). Holton is ranked behind only Andale and Hayden while Sabetha is ranked behind only Nemaha Central and Kingman.
Centralia (1A) is coming off 11 wins in 2022 and they'll begin the season ranked #7. Jefferson County North (1A) will have some quality talent back this season and they'll enter 2023 ranked #10 in the class.
Clifton-Clyde (8M-I) won seven games in 2022 and will enter this season ranked #10.
Other area teams receiving votes include Atchison (4A), Perry-Lecompton (3A), Troy (1A), Riverside (1A), Valley Falls (1A), Hanover (8M-II), and Frankfort (8M-II).
The remaining top ranked teams in the state are Manhattan (6A), Mill Valley (5A), Bishop Miege (4A), Andale (3A), St. Mary's Colgan (1A), Wichita County (8M-I), and Cunningham (6M).
