The Jackson Heights Cobras take on the Horton Chargers in a week one opening matchup on a beautiful friday night game.

With a cool breeze out the south of 9 mph and a dropping temperature to 75, you can say it was definitely football weather! The Cobras were the ones brewing the storm Friday night with a 42-6 on the road win against Horton.

The First Quarter began in a fumbling match by both teams until Jackson Heights begun the scoring with a Kade Holiday touchdown run from three yards out with 5:45 on the clock in the first.

The next touchdown wasn’t scored until the start of the second quarter. The Chargers began the second quarter scoring on a 4th and Goal from the eight yard line. The touchdown was a pass connection from Jackson Moman hitting Kyle Riley in the bread basket perfectly with elite ball placement in the back of the endzone.

After the touchdown from the Chargers, there was some tension for the Cobras, however, stepping up to the plate, or I should I say the snap was Drake Mellies. Drake was able to win Player of the Game and Highlight of the game with one of his sixty-yard touchdown runs, and a fifty-yard run that set up a three yard rushing touchdown for himself.

Another notable player for the Jackson Heights Cobras this game was Kade Holiday who had three touchdowns. This is very unique since Kade has always been a quarterback from beginning of seventh grade, now entering his Junior year he looks to be a promising back filling absence of Titus Eisenbarth.

Horton finishes the game with five total turnovers, where as Jackson Heights finishes with three. The Cobras will look to continue their strong play with a home stand in week two as they face Maur Hill-Mount Academy at home. The Chargers will try to learn from this first loss and go to the Bulldogs house next week to take on a familiar rival in Mclouth.
