Axtell remains #1 in 8M-II after they beat Cair Paravel in their opener 60-44. It's the Eagles 27th straight win but they had to sweat it out as that game was tied going into the fourth quarter.
Axtell quarterback Brandon Schmelzle contributed in all three phases rushing for two touchdowns, passing for another, and adding a kickoff return for a touchdown.
The Centralia Panthers jump into the rankings this week for the first time this season at #5 in Class 1A. The Panthers won a close game against Valley Heights 18-16 at home.
Brody Grossnickle rushed for a pair of touchdowns in the game to lead Centralia while Jacob Flentie tossed a touchdown to Henry Heideman.

The Thunder dispatched Holton in Seneca 31-6 behind Carter Hajek's big night. Carter finished with 163 rushing yards and three scores while the Thunder defense held Holton to just 161 total yards.
The Bluejays shutout the Kaws at Perry-Lecompton 30-0. Mitchell Kramer threw for two touchdowns, both to Marcus Bauman. Colin Menold led the rushing attack with 75 yards and a touchdown.
