The Jackson Heights Cobras in similar fashion to last week's game against the Horton Chargers come out and dominate their opponent to a forty-two to six score. However, the deja vu doesn’t end there, the Cobras held the Ravens similarly as they held Horton with only six points in the first half, and then having a lights out second half performance.
The Maur Hill Ravens started off with the ball on their own twenty-seven yard line and had an immediate three-and-out. The Ravens must punt to the green and gold snakes, letting the Cobras take over in Raven territory. Jackson Heights capitalized off of the short field with an easy drive capped off with a one yard rush touchdown by Josh Smith, which was one of his two touchdowns of the game.
The next drive ends the same with another three-and-out for the Raves and they are forced to punt. At this point the Ravens have produced more penalty yards than offensive yards early in the game. On this punt Drake Mellies is set to receive it on the Raven’s forty-eight yard line, and in one of his many Impressive highlightable touchdowns of the game he takes it all the way to the Snake Den.
Dedicating this next segment to the star of the show, Drake Mellies, he finishes the game with over three-hundred plus scrimmage yards with four total touchdowns and three defensive interceptions. The sophomore played lights out football with his outstanding performance on both offensive and defensive sides of the ball. Talking up the young player some more; Mellies also had two touchdown passes that were at least thirty-plus air yards and overall seventy yard passes, the first being put in the breadbasket of Westan Schultejans and the second being a dot to Brayden Mcqueen (Both seniors who just came from Wetmore.)
Jackson Heights Cobras not only won the overall war of this game but they won many of the battles such as; The Battle of the Turnover. Jackson Heights only had two turnovers in the game, whereas the Ravens had seven total turnovers. At the end of the game on the Raven’s last five drives they were all turnovers.
In conclusion Jackson Heights played a phenomenal game and for the first time in probably forever the Jackson Heights Cobras tripled their rushing stats with passing stats. And as for the Ravens they will look to try to improve their passing and run game when they head onto Mclouth next week. The Cobras will start their year off 2-0 with an away game and now a home game under their belt. Maur Hill dropped to a low 0-2 losing their opener versus Oski and now an away loss at Jackson Heights.
