The Nemaha Central cross country team highlighted the area squads competing at the big Wamego Invitational on Saturday.
John Langill won the 3-2-1A event with a time of 16:21.77 which helped the Thunder finish in fourth place as a team out of 21 squads.
"No one works harder than John," said Nemaha Central head coach Jon Thomas. "He spends a lot of time getting his body and mind right for competition."
"Today all of his efforts paid off with one of his best performances to date."
Thomas adds that the field of runners was talented and a top four finish for the boys was a confidence booster.
Bob Langill also posted a strong outing finishing in 20th place.
The Thunder girls finished in 10th place as they were led by Madilyn Mosteller who finished in 16th place. Clifton-Clyde would finish in 11th place and Sabetha would finish in 13th place.
The Marysville boys had a strong weekend as they finished in 3rd place as a team and were led by Silas Miller who finished in 5th place.
Sabetha boasted two runners inside the top-12 with Charlie Lukert finishing in 8th place and Kalvin Evans finishing in 12th place.
In the 4A event, Holton's Eva Cortes finished in 7th place as the Wildcats would finish in 12th place out of 16 teams.
The event in Wamego is one of the biggest cross country events in the state in the month of September.
